This is the second part of my travel series. (hmm...hopefully I am not doing this wrong)
06/16 Sun - Old Port (Vieux Port)
One can first stop at the Tourist Center (with the question mark) near Place Jacques-Cartier to pick up maps. In front of the Tourist Center, it is Hotel de Ville, a must-see architectural site. However, it was under construction = (
However, place Jacques-Cartier is a nice plaza with lots of brenches and restaurants next to it. (Le Jardin Nelson, 407 Place Jacques-Cartier, 514-861-5731, is recommended by Frommer's at place Jacques-Cartier).

My first stop: Pointe-a-Calliere (museum of archaeology and history)
The location is a historical site where Montreal all started from. The museum also provides tours on weekends to explain Montreal history, which is very informative!

Second stop: Basilique Cathedreal Notre-Dame de Quebec
It's a Gothic-style Catholic church, which is also still opened for services. If you want to hear the choir and organ music (the organ in the church has 7,000 pipes!!!) , they have a 11AM service that you can join. Now the admission to the church is CAD $5 and they still have the light show, but the show only runs from Tue-Sat, CAD $10. However, in the church, there are 1/2 hr guided tours. VERY VERY HELPFUL!!

Third Stop: Pier
At various places at the old port, you can BIXI bikes. Check out the website:
http://www.bixi.com/home/ The basic usage fee is CAD $5 which includes your 1/2 hr usage and CAD $1.5 after 1/2 hr and then more....The cost adds fast after 1-2 hr so consider renting a bike if you are planning to ride for 2 hr or more. However, I rented out the BIXI bike and rode from one end to the other end of Old port about 40 mins.

Forth Stop: St-Paul St
It's a street filled with souvenir shops and local artist shops. It's a very interesting street. There are tons of restaurants and bars along the way if you want to hang out.

Again, my stop at the restaurant was not successful so I won't post it up here. Very disappointed = ( I then took the Metro home to end my adventous day!
