2. Hepatitis A, High Risk, Recommended
3. Typhoid Fever, High Risk, Recommended
4. Measles , Low Risk , Recommended, Not necessary for Americans born before 1957
5. Traveler’s Diarrhea, High Risk, NO. Take pills.
Special Notice Malaria,
*Risk Area: risk in all departments, except Arequipa, Moquegua, Puno, Tacna, Risk in Puerto Maldonado . Travelers visiting Lima+ its vicinity, coastal areas south of Lima, or highland tourist areas (Cuzco, Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca) are not at risk and need no prophylaxis
*Transmission 1-12 Months
*Predominant species: P. vivax 78%, P. falciparum 22%
*Chloroquine resistant: Yes.
*Mosquito protection: Yes.
*Must take in Jungle: Insect repellent with DEET, hat for jungle, bacterial hand wash
