Double celebration for Bridge

MORE than one million people are expected to flock to Sydney harbour vantage points for a multi-million dollar New Year's Eve party that will double as an anniversary celebration for the iconic "coathanger'' bridge.
The celebrations are being dubbed a Diamond Night In The Emerald City, with the event ringing in the anniversary of the Harbour Bridge, which celebrates its 75th birthday in March.
The Emerald City reference is both a nod to David Williamson's 1985 play about Sydney, and to the mythical metropolis in the children's classic The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz.
As part of the night's Wizard Of Oz theme, Dorothy and her friends from the book will act as inspiration for the 9pm (AEDT) family spectacular, and kids will be asked to simultaneously click their heels at one point during the show.
Organisers hope the moment will add some magic to the harbour celebrations.
The night will culminate in the midnight firework, lightshow and musical spectacular, coloured by Williamson's more adult take on the harbour city, and a coathanger-like structure is expected to help the bridge take centre stage again.
A beating heart was the central image of last year's bridge show, and a mirror ball and the word "Eternity'' were used as motifs in previous years.
Creative director Wayne Harrison said the day would be an "awe-inspiring spectacle'' in the "world's greatest amphitheatre''.
Launching the harbour celebrations at the Sydney Opera House today, Mr Harrison was keeping mum about the bridge display, even though the coathanger-like object was taking shape behind him as he spoke.
"Our much loved coathanger will be the life of the party, dressed to the nines, the jewel in our emerald city,'' he said.
"At the stroke of midnight there will be an extraordinary tribute to the bridge.''
As usual, there will be two firework shows on the night, one at 9pm (AEDT) the other at midnight, each of which will involve 21,000 fireworks being shot from the bridge, from a number of city rooftops and from harbour barges east and west of the city.
From 1pm (AEDT), an hour-by-hour countdown will include flyovers by vintage aircraft and the ringing of the bells by the city's churches.
City of Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore promised a night of magic for children and adults alike.
"New Year's Eve 2006 is going to be magic, it's going to be a magic experience for a million people around our harbour, it's going to be a magic experience for children, and I think it will also be a magic experience for the adults who are with them,'' she said.
Rocks Local Area Commander Superintendent Ron Mason said police began planning for this New Year's Eve on January 1, and expected this year would be even better than last year.
A police spokesman said a decision would be made next week on police deployment strategies.

但是是晚上九點就放了，不會等到12點...

票價從2到10元不等，視不同區段及乘客資格而有不同。
最大的好康大贈送是CBD的交通是整夜免費。
Circular Quay火車站將會在晚間8點到凌晨一點間關閉，所以來看煙火的乘客必需要使用Wynyard、St James或是Martin Place等車站下車，再走到水岸邊。
沃金斯廳長說，跨港大橋也將在12月31日的晚間11點45分關閉，直到1月1日的中午12點45分再重新開放。
