There is a small airport in KNP, but it's not for public domestic flights. You have to fly to Kruger/Mpumalanga International Airport (Code: MQP). From there you have to rent a car or,go with a tour group. From Cape Town you can take South African Airways or SA Airlink. Just find out from the airport or from any travel agent in Cape Town. The visitor centre at the Cape Town Waterfront will also be able to help you. Don't be scared to visit Johannesburg, just be careful. Don't go if you are too worried, or go with a group. Enjoy.
