Hi how are you going?
I am yenjay and stay in Melbourne for travel now.
According to my experience, i booked the accommodation of Syndey in advance when i was in Taiwan.
because the backpacker hostel i stayed can freely pick me up from Syndey airport.
It can save AU10 and I don't need to worry about where i stay when the environment is strange to me at the beginning.
But it is just my suggestion.
Take care and wish you will have a good time in Australia.

其實到了機場坐車到市區再自己找就可以了
只要注意不要在節慶或旺季的時候來以免找不到旅館
先暫住個幾天是沒有問題的
這段時間就先去找住的地方 找到了之後抄下地址再去辦其他一些手續就好啦
要不也可以找當地的朋友借住或是幫你先找好適合的地方住 就這樣

they will tell you whether picking you up freely or not

I don't make the reservation for hostel if i will take the bus to there because the bus station is also within the town and i can find the accommodation centre at the bus station.
Almost hostel will pick you up from bus station when you book at bus station(because the distance between both is short)
However, the airpost almost is located at countryside and you need pay more money to city.(for example: syndey:AU10).
You can just book about 2-3 days in advance and look for better hostel when you arrive city.
But it is just my opinion and experience^^

請問有人去澳洲旅遊時睡路邊或火車站的經驗嗎?
1月份準備去墨爾本跟雪梨2個禮拜

i have seen some "wanderer" sleeping on the street in SYD,but they really really look poor.

我朋友有睡 火車站 的習慣 但我不建議.. 有更好的方法
你可以去 網bar 去那呆一晚 (很多人都這麼做的)
或是去 背包住宿... 雪梨的價錢 大概一晚$25
遊客千萬不要因為預算不足流落街頭 = = 很容易出事的
