Day 1 Arrive Rio de JaneiroArrive in Rio at any time.
Day 2-10 BrazilStart in dramatic Rio de Janeiro with world famous beaches like Ipanema or Copacabana and nightlife like nowhere on earth. Head to Parati, our gateway to laid-back Ilha Grande before heading west to awesome Iguassu Falls, on the border with Argentina and Paraguay.
Day 11-15 Argentina, UruguayCross through Argentina to the Uruguayan city of Salto and relax in the thermal baths. From the capital of Montevideo, travel to colonial Colonia del Sacramento and walk the cobblestone streets before crossing back into Argentina.
Day 16-21 ArgentinaArrive in dynamic Buenos Aires, perhaps the most European of South American capitals. Catch a tango show or sample the nightlife before travelling to stunning Bariloche, famous equally for its chocolate and its great hiking, biking and skiing.
Day 22-37 ChileTravel through the Andes and cross into Chile at Puerto Montt, the gateway to Patagonia. Continue north to the outdoor mecca of Pucón, in Chile’s Lake District, and on to the capital of Santiago. Day trips here include Valparaiso and Viña del Mar, Chile’s premier beach resort. Relax, visit an observatory or a Pisco factory in beachside La Serena before our last stop in San Pedro de Atacama, on the edge of the driest desert in the world.
Day 38-47 BoliviaSpend 3 days crossing into Bolivia in 4x4 vehicles. Explore mountains and geysers, piercing blue skies and blinding white salt flats between the Atacama Desert and the Salar de Uyuni. Travel north to World Heritage Potosí, the highest in the world and a silver mining centre during colonial times; here you can descend into a working silver mine. Spend two days in Sucre, Bolivia’s “White City,” and stop in Cochabamba on our way north to La Paz, the highest capital in the world.
