Bought 5 tickets to KL for early next year for a family trip sometime ago. Then guess what? after I bought it, the price went down almost 50% for promotion for a few days.
I think this "mind blowing August sale" maybe for year end till next year. It's not the zero fare promotion. I tried to get some info from AA call center and staff, but obviously they do not know exactly what is on sale.
From past experience, it is probably just another low fare promo trying to fill out flights this year end. Just have to wait and see.

Thanks for your helpful information. The travel period is suitable for me, although no free seats will be offered. I hope that promotion fares and destinations are good to me. I think I would stay up late on 8/10.
