海子溝是四姑娘山三條溝中最漂亮的一條溝，其景色與雙橋溝、長坪溝完全不一樣，既不像雙橋溝這樣簡單，也不像長坪溝這樣狹窄，前半段(鍋莊坪、朝山坪)以高山草甸為主，是欣賞四姑娘山的最佳之地，也是攝影愛好者拍攝四姑娘山最好的地方(如拍攝日照金山等)，每年當地藏民均要在此迎面對四姑娘山舉行隆重的朝山儀式。
